It started with a little girl named Clara

I'm a dad. A few years ago my daughter Clara was three, then four — that age where everything is a question and everything is a game. Before I handed her anything, I went looking: I searched the app stores, I searched the whole internet, hunting for something that might genuinely help her learn her letters and numbers.

What I found broke my heart a little.

The “free” games were wall-to-wall ads — loud, flashing, sometimes genuinely not-okay — shoved in front of a child who couldn't yet read the word “skip.” And the ones that weren't stuffed with ads were quietly full of something worse: trackers, watching my four-year-old, building a little profile of a girl who still slept with a nightlight.

She couldn't even read yet — and something was already collecting data about her.

I couldn't find the thing I wanted for her. So one night, at the kitchen table after she'd gone to bed, I started building it myself — one small game at a time.

Every instruction spoken out loud, because Clara couldn't read the buttons. Every game made by hand, so it was actually good — not a cynical reskin. No ads. Not one — because a childhood shouldn't be interrupted to sell someone something. And nothing collected about her. Nothing. Ever.

Because that's exactly what it was — a little garden of games, grown for one small girl, by her dad.

Then something funny happened. Other parents saw Clara playing and asked, “wait, where is that? It has no ads?” It turned out I wasn't the only one who'd gone looking for a garden like this and come up empty.

So Clara's Game Garden grew up into The Learning Garden — 34 games now, for every kid, not just mine. But the heart of it never changed. And it never will.

I will never put an ad in front of your child. I will never track them, profile them, or sell a single thing about them — not because a privacy policy says I can't, but because I'm a father, and I would never accept it for Clara. What I won't build for my own daughter, I won't build for yours.
